Lamies Nazzal is a lecturer and course coordinator in the Department of Mathematics at California State University, San Bernardino. Dr. Nazzal was named the College of Natural Sciences “2021-2022 Outstanding Lecturer.” She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Damascus University; an M.A. in Mathematics, CSUSB; and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (with emphasis on creativity and creative problem solving in STEM), University of Connecticut. Dr. Nazzal has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics, mathematics education, and STEM education. Her research broadly focuses on studying creativity and creative problem-solving in STEM education. Her current research focus is on investigating the creative process in STEM education, assessing students’ perceptions of the role of creativity in STEM and their level of self-efficacy for math creativity, and how these constructs may impact students’ academic outcomes. Dr. Nazzal has joined the ISSUES-X (Investigating Student Success Using Evidence-based Strategies-Expanded) leadership team in January 2022, where she develops and facilitates professional development institutes and faculty learning communities focusing on teaching in STEM using evidence-based practices, culturally responsive teaching, and scholarship of teaching and learning.
