Program Abstract: The STEM Summer Scholars Institute, targeting underrepresented students interested in STEM doctoral programs, shifted to provide the research program remotely and incorporated a social and emotional learning framework promoting educational equity. This session will describe 1) instructional and communication processes of the STEM program in a remote format, 2) utilization of CASEL's Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) framework for strategic programming and partnership, and 3) assessment of program outcomes and recommendations on best practices for programmatic success. This presentation will highlight the importance of designing an undergraduate research experience and collaboration between academic departments and other campus partners to promote professional development in graduate socialization and skills development to apply to STEM doctoral programs.
