Program Abstract: The LACOL QLAB project has brought together faculty and staff from across a ten-college consortium to engage in efforts to support student quantitative skills (QS). We’ve used several approaches for facilitating activities within and across institutions, including targeted in-person meetings of individuals from across the consortium, a round-robin discussion format that mixed on-campus conversations with cross-institutional sharing of key discussion points, and campus representatives shepherding information gathering on their campuses to report back and share with other representatives.

We will discuss the pros and cons of these collaboration models for engaging faculty and staff in QS efforts and look to hear from participants about what models of collaboration have worked for them at what scale. Although we often talk about collaboration, that term is shorthand for a continuum of interactions between individuals, programs, and institutions. What can we learn from each other about how to make our collaborative efforts better?
