Program Abstract: A new approach to assessments has been successful over the past two semesters for students in a biology course designed for non-STEM majors. Undergraduates have been opting to demonstrate their learning by designing children’s storybooks centered around challenging concepts in biology. This expression of creativity has been motivating students to learn more details about complex processes by turning them into part of their own narrative. This not only is an ideal assessment but also has been used as a tool for the entire class to review course concepts at the end of the semester. The objectives of the assessment can be applied to nearly all STEM disciplines.
