Senior Lecturer Pázmány Péter Catholic University Budapest, Pest, Hungary
Program Abstract: The workshop will introduce participants to an instructional design framework (IDF) called GAMIREAD, which can assist lecturers with implementing game mechanics in university course design by using sustainable and low cost/free resources. GAMIREAD was created with the aim of gamifying the teaching and learning processes in undergraduate courses of academic reading in the following fields of the arts stream: history, political science, philosophy, and English for special purposes (ESP). The most distinctive traits of GAMIREAD are its power to personalize the learning process and its capacity to encourage diligence and perseverance. GAMIREAD was created within the confines of the arts stream, but it can be adopted in other STEAM fields, too, due to its flexible design. In 2022, the GAMIREAD IDF has been awarded with the PROFFORMANCE International Teaching Excellence Award (first place) for the best student-centered course design, and the Teaching Excellence National Prize in Hungary.
