A. Personal Statement.
Elena Garralda MD MSc, currently the Director at the Early Drug Development Unit at VHIO, Barcelona. Received the Medical Doctor degree from the Autonoma University, Madrid in 2005. After graduation spent one year as head coordinator of a medical health center in Battambang, Cambodia. Specialized then in Medical Oncology at the 12th of October’s University Hospital, Madrid, obtaining her license in May 2011. During this time, accomplished the Advanced Studies Diploma (D.E.A.) at the Complutense University, Madrid as part of her PhD degree. She completed a 2 year Master’s degree in Molecular Oncology at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) and a Master’s degree in Management Skills for Scientists and Researchers at IE Business School; both with the highest recommendation.
Early drug development has always been a major interest, especially translational oncology, targeted therapies and personalized cancer medicine, being very involved with the Gastrointestinal Cancer Clinical Research Unit at the CNIO and with the South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics (START) Centers.
B. Achievements and Honors
Awarded in 2012 with the Certification of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates by the ECFMG, and in 2013 she obtained a TxSCO - Fellows Abstract Award, from the Texas Society of Clinical Oncology.
She has over 20 published Articles and has presented more than 30 asbtracts.
Speaker at many congresses she is actively involved with ESMO's “W4O” Committee, and the leader of the Early Drug Development at the Cancer Core Europe consortium.
