Christophe M. Deroose is a nuclear medicine physician working at the University Hospitals Leuven and affiliated with the laboratory for nuclear medicine and molecular imaging at KU Leuven. As a physician at the department of nuclear medicine, he is responsible for the supervision of all standard studies with a special interest in nuclear oncology (digestive, respiratory and pelvic gynecological oncology). He is a regular participant in multidisciplinary tumor board in these areas. He is also responsible for the therapeutic applications of nuclear medicine in these cancer types.
His research focuses primarily on new developments of theranostic nuclear medicine strategies within digestive, respiratory and gynecological oncology, with a special focus on neuroendocrine tumors. This includes the development of new radiopharmaceuticals, both diagnostic and therapeutic, from molecule to cells and small test animals up to the patient; implementation of innovative existing tracers in research programs with the aim of allowing them to progress to standard clinical applications; and clinical studies of new or existing therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals. He is a Senior Clinical Investigator at the Fund for Scientific Research (FWO) with a research project focusing on theranostic applications of the somatostatin receptor. He is co-author of more than 145 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He is the current Chair of the EORTC Imaging Group and a former secretary-general of the Belgian Society for Nuclear Medicine (Belnuc).
