Atypical etiologies, accounting for 10-20% of all wounds, should be considered when the location for a common chronic wound is unusual, the appearance is not typical, and the wound has not responded to conventional therapy. Atypical wounds can be caused by immunologic, inflammatory, genetic, microthrombolitic, and psychological conditions. This session will present a review of atypical wounds including up-to-date evidence on diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment.
