Session Description: Everyone appreciates value and saving a buck; but achieving value in oral health care requires more than simply changing payment incentives. It isn’t about increasing the number of procedures, visits or enrollees; it is about improving health outcomes in a measureable fashion. Yet, there are barriers and professional philosophies entangled with the evolution of value-based care, which hinder improving the oral health of the patient, being more affordable for everyone, and making care teams happier. It is possible to find success in advancing VBC delivery models, which allow care teams to evolve integrated models that support prevention over a lifetime; embrace digital health so that technology is a help, not a hindrance; and reduce the need for more invasive and thus expensive procedures. How long will we keep talking about value-based care, when the time to act is now! Come and find out how to accelerate value in oral health…today!
Learning Objectives:
Describe the evolution of U.S. health care systems from concerns about Quality to a focus on Value.
Describe the components of transformed general and oral health systems that are needed to improve value in oral health.
Describe actions to accelerate the movement to value in oral health as well as share examples of progress toward value in oral health currently underway.
