Session Description: In December 2021, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the National Institutes of Health released a report that provides a comprehensive snapshot of oral health in America. The report shares information on 20 years of advances and challenges, drawing on data from public research and evidence-based practices.
This session will provide an overview of the report and how it can be used to address oral health issues across the lifespan; how oral health effects the community, overall well-being and the economy; how science and technology can transform oral health, and other oral health concerns. Specific NIDCR and NIH-sponsored programs and initiatives that will advance research and that will provide the evidence needed to reduce oral health disparities will be described.
