Oral health is often viewed as separate from general health, however, we feel it is in integral part of overall health. Behavioral health providers are in a position to offer intervention for various oral health problems due to regular visits with their patients and their understanding of the patients individual needs. Additionally, behavioral health can impact oral health, as well as oral health impacting behavioral health. We plan to present our model developed in Southern Oregon that has integrated an Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist into a behavioral health/physical health setting and show the challenges but most importantly the successes!
