Microsoft Power BI (Business Intelligence) is a tool that enables individuals and organizations to prepare and analyze data, create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. Data visualizations allow analysts and users to recognize patterns and relationships in large volumes of data that may not be easily seen in the raw data or reports. This can help to understand the burden of disease and also identify emerging trends.
In this round table, we will focus on discussing how the oral health program at MDHHS is using Microsoft Power BI to create interactive dashboards to provide an intuitive and accessible platform for data visualization. The Power BI tool has been used by program staff to create dashboards for several of our programs including the SEAL! Michigan program, Medicaid Oral Health Indicators and Water Fluoridation Reporting System. These dashboards display trends data in interactive ways such as maps, graphs, and charts. Users can filter and view data according to their specific needs. A downloadable excel file containing raw data used in the dashboard is also provided for users.
Participants will leave with an increased knowledge on new ways of displaying data in an interactive and more visually intuitive format.
