Every Head Start program is tasked with providing high-quality oral health care that supports each child’s growth and school readiness. For the past decade, the Dental Hygienist Liaison (DHL) project, funded by the Office of Head Start, has supported volunteer dental hygienists in each state to engage in collaborative efforts with Head Start staff and partners to improve the oral health of pregnant people and children enrolled in Head Start. This support includes helping them access oral health care, a challenge for pregnant people and children with low incomes. Join us to learn how to work with the DHL in your state to support the needs of your local Head Start programs. You’ll find out how you can help staff address the Head Start oral health program performance standards, and we’ll share a treasure trove of oral health educational resources for Head Start staff and families.
