Parent education in nutrition and diet modification can reduce risk of dental caries and obesity. The Rhode Island Department of Health Oral Health Program, in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island Nutrition Education program, developed a training for dental hygienists called “Healthy Eating for Healthy Children.” Initially provided live and face-to-face, RIDOH OHP engaged the New England Public Health Training Center to both convert the training to online delivery and host on their portal. This roundtable will review the rationale for the training and the goals of providing hygienists both information about nutrition and how to convey strategies that parents can use to engage their children in healthy eating in a shame-free way. We will review how online programs require succinct writing and presentation and the collaborative process to reach a product all members were comfortable with. We will review how evaluation was inserted before, during, and after the training.
