Session Description: Integration of oral health (OH) into primary care (PC) training can advance health equity. Based on the Center for Integration of Primary Care and Oral Health (CIPCOH) research, significant gaps exist in OH education in PC training. One of the main predictors of the inclusion of OH is the presence of an OH champion within those programs. In this session, the speakers will describe the 100 Million Mouths Campaign (100 MMC), an initiative launched by CIPCOH, to create and train fifty [one in each state] OH champions over the next decade, and to work with PC health professions schools to integrate OH into their curricula. Using qualitative and quantitative data, the speakers will outline the successful implementation of the project's pilot phase (2020-2021) across six states. The session will also outline the recruitment and training of OH champions and the evaluation of the 100 MMC.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the recruitment process of state oral health champions for the first six states in a 50-state campaign.
Identify components of a standardized training program to help train oral health champions and provide them with the skills to help train new champions within their state/region.
Describe the program's internal and external evaluations, including assessment of process and outcome measures to measure the program's successes.
