Session Description: This session will describe state level strategies for applied oral health workforce evaluation. Foundational aspects of health workforce data collection, such as establishment of interagency partnerships between regulatory entities and dental public health/public health units as well as the develop of consensus minimum dataset survey tools, will be explored. An overview of the skills and tools required to develop data management processes that ensure quality and instill confidence of state workforce data will be provided. Examples of applied state based oral health workforce analyses and reporting mechanisms to support informed policy and programming will be presented and explored. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with expert presenters to discuss the benefits and challenges of specific strategies from the perspective of their respective states/jurisdictions.
