Jennifer West is a Program Manager at StopWaste, a public agency reducing pollution and waste in Alameda County in CA. She works on addressing climate change through government support of building energy efficiency and electrification, focusing on the market development of heat pump water heaters. She also supports on landscape water efficiency and healthy soils through compost application. Her work encourages and supports local governments in aligning their work with climate goals. StopWaste is one part of the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN), which serves local governments implementing energy efficiency through programs and codes support. She believes that collaboration and relationships are at the heart of this work, and that we have so much to learn from each other. Jennifer served as Mayor and City Councilmember in Emeryville, CA from 2009 to 2014, and embraced regional efforts to increase housing, transform transportation and reduce energy use. She was a public school teacher from 1995 to 2008. She received her Master of Public Policy degree from the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy in 2012.
