Jim Norris is an electronics technician in the Gas Sensing Metrology Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He started working at NBS/NIST in high school and has been involved in ozone measurements and instrumentation for more than 38 years. Jim has Associate degrees in Electronics Technology and Engineering Science from Montgomery College, and attended the University of Maryland, School of Engineering studying electrical engineering. Jim is responsible for measurements of ozone concentrations up to 1000 nmol/mol using an ultraviolet photometric technique and for operation and production of Standard Reference Instrument (SRI 6008), the NIST Standard Reference Photometer, which serves globally as an ozone reference standard. Additionally, Jim provides calibrations of ozone and mercury instrumentation under NIST Calibration Services.
