Sumi Hoshiko, MPH, is a Research Scientist with the Environmental Health Investigations Branch, Center for Healthy Communities, at the California Department of Public Health. Her work has addressed the health effects of climate change, including heat and wildfire smoke, and most recently the public health impact of prescribed fire smoke. Previous work has involved investigation of a range of environmental exposures and health conditions, including tobacco smoke, hexavalent chromium, perchlorate, radiation, cancer clusters, and asthma. She holds a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from UC Berkeley and a BA from Oberlin College.
