John J Carter, Vice President | Senior Principal, CPP Inc.
John Carter has more than 20 years of experience conducting wind tunnel and numerical modeling studies for exhaust dispersion, wind comfort, door operability, cladding, and frame loads. He has also conducted numerous regulatory simulations for various facilities using EPA approved tools such as ISC, AERMOD, Screen, etc. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering and an MS in wind engineering and fluid mechanics. John has been a key developer of tools that aid the modeling of indoor airflow patterns using wind tunnel data, which have been applied to natural ventilation design, door operability issues, and ventilation problems in existing facilities. John has participated in multiple ASHRAE research projects and has written papers and articles for ASHRAE Transactions, The ASHRAE Journal, and other technical publications. He has been a primary reviser and a major contributor to the ASHRAE Handbook chapters, “Airflow Around Buildings,” and “Exhaust and Intake Design.” John co-authored the EPA’s “Best Practices for Exhaust and Intake Design.”
