Dr. Tian Xia earned his bachelor’s degree in Environment and Sustainable Development at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from Prof. Herek Clack’s laboratory in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Michigan. His dissertation research is mainly on in-flow airborne virus inactivation by non-thermal plasma (NTP), which involved the second published investigation of airstream inactivation of viruses by non-thermal plasma, and the first examination of airstream Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSv) disinfection methods in the literature. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Prof. Stuart Batterman’s laboratory in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Michigan. During the postdoc, he focused his research on mobile and indoor air quality monitoring and participated in three university-led and government-led public health projects on air quality, namely the Gordie Howe International Bridge (GHIB) Air Quality Monitoring project, Michigan–Ontario Ozone Source Experiment (MOOSE), and the Community Action to Promote Healthy Environments (CAPHE).
