Tom Morahan is a scientist that specializes in domestic and international corporate safety, health and environmental liability program management. He attended Rutgers University and holds bachelor and master’s degrees in Geology and is also a court qualified expert in chemistry. In the late 1990s he was a member of the team that developed the first successful internet hosted EHS management system and soon after authored the book Information Technology Solutions for EH&S Professionals. In 2006, he chaired the A&WMA conference on Environmental Metrics in Atlanta and in 2009, he chaired the A&WMA Practical Sustainability Conference in St. Louis. In 2011, at the Annual Conference in Orlando, Tom was instrumental in recognizing that members interested in sustainability at A&WMA were looking beyond the subject of carbon emissions, and helped to move the Sustainability Technical Coordinating Committee to a broader A&WMA Sustainability and Resource Conservation Division. He has aided major corporations in global sustainability matters and has supported A&WMA Technical Council with paper reviews and session presentations for the last three decades. Currently Tom is working independently with non-profits and consultancies to provide environmental science graduates hands-on training to prepare them for careers in the environmental field.
