Ruti Volk M.S.I., A.H.I.P., has been leading the Patient Education and Health Literacy Program at Michigan Medicine since 2010. She is the author of “The Medical Library Association Guide to Cancer Information: Authoritative, Patient-Friendly, Print and Electronic Information Sources” published by Neal-Schumann Publishers in 2007. Ruti is the 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Consumer Health Information Service Award of the Consumer and Patient Health Information Section of Medical Library Association (CAPHIS). Ruti is a senior-level member in the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals - A.H.I.P. She is also a member of the Health Care Education Association (HCEA).
Ruti has been with the U-M Health System since 1999. Until 2010 she managed of two resource centers for patients and families, one on cancer and one on cardiovascular health. She earned her Master of Science in Information degree from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Art History from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
