Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology, University of California, Davis
Daniel Paredes is a PostDoc in the Karp Lab in the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology at the University of California, Davis. Daniel completed his Ph.D. in 2014 at the Spanish Council of Research. After his Ph.D., Daniel kept working in the same lab in Spain but he expanded his network to other Universities (Stanford & BOKU) around the world. Just before moving to UCD, Daniel worked in the University of Coimbra (Portugal) developing agent based models for the study of natural enemies-pest interactions in agricultural landscapes. Daniel is interested in sustainable agriculture and how can we better balance biodiversity conservation with agricultural production. His research explores the ecological mechanisms underlying the delivery of ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes and how local and landscape management practices influence these mechanisms. He aims at designing decision-support tools that help agricultural stakeholders to make wise decisions that minimize the negative effects of agriculture on the environment. Daniel is also very interested in ecoinformatics and data management and uses predictive models and computer simulations as his main tools.
