Today more than 2.3 billion people worldwide lack access to basic sanitation, and an estimated 844 million do not have access to clean water. With these numbers, pneumonia and diarrheal disease are the two of the leading causes of death among children under 5 years old. According to the World Health Organization, millions of young lives could be saved with access to bar soap and hygiene education.
That is why the Entomology Society of America is partnering with Clean the World to create hygiene kits containing sanitary goods to donate to Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless works to prevent homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness throughout Colorado. They advocate and provide a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.
