Ultimately, OMSs are all human, and thus even the best and smartest doctors are vulnerable to the latent consequences of cognitive errors in oral surgery sedation. This session will explore the different manifestations of cognitive errors by using real examples from malpractice cases, aviation and cognitive psychology. Simple-but-powerful techniques to minimize the impact of cognitive errors will be discussed so that audience members will be able to implement practical strategies in their office to improve patient safety in oral surgery sedation.
