Dr. Cecelia Crawford has been a nursing champion for 40 years. She received an ADN from Solano Community College, BSN and MSN from Cal State Dominguez Hills, and a DNP from Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona. Cecelia made multiple contributions during 19 years of acute care, including 14 years as a burn nurse. She joined Kaiser Permanente Southern California Regional Nursing Research Program in 2005 and retired in 2020 as the Regional Director of Evidence-Based Nursing Practice. Her major focus is the evaluation and synthesis of evidence for clinical practice. She provided leadership and consultation for the 15 KP medical centers and 4 safety-net facilities. Dr. Crawford is the founding director of the Academy for Evidence-Based Practice and mentored others in evidence reviews. Cecelia has been an investigator on multiple research studies, including on 2 NIH grants. She has completed 70 evidence reviews, 33 manuscripts, 1 book chapter, and over 100 presentations at regional, national, and international venues. She has received 25 awards and honors, culminating with her induction as a Fellow in American Academy of Nursing. Cecelia’s vision is to translate evidence so it is meaningful and accessible to those who need it – the nurse and the patient.
