Dr. Farmer began teaching nursing in 1989. Her academic career has included teaching in practical, associate, baccalaureate, and master’s programs in Utah and Massachusetts. She served as department chair, associate dean, and interim college dean. Her primary nursing practice was in psychiatric mental health nursing and infectious diseases. Her leadership roles in practices have included appointments as an associate director of an in-patient psychiatric unit, director of nursing at a state psychiatric hospital, and executive director of the Utah Board of Nursing.
