Carlene Byfield is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Queensborough Community College, City University of New York. Prior to her appointment at QCC, she taught clinical simulation at New York University College of Nursing. Her research is dedicated to the preparation of nurses and enhancement of nursing skills that will result in positive outcomes for both the provider and the patient. Her DNP capstone explored various strategies for strengthening professional resilience in nurses who care for children with special healthcare needs. Carlene has presented in locally and internationally, including Case Western University, Northeastern University, and ENIASM Haiti, among others.
Carlene recently obtained a grant and developed an LGBTQ training module that will be used to implement LGBTQ education into the nursing curriculum of selected CUNY schools. Carlene’s self-appointed mission is to enhance the practice of nursing through innovation of strategies that align with the evolution of the healthcare industry.
