The Covid-19 pandemic presented significant challenges to interdisciplinary healthcare providers and to nursing education. The effects of burnout continue to manifest as we near the end of the second year of the pandemic. Faculty and academic leader burnout however is not a concept confined to the Covid-19 pandemic and it is largely unaddressed in the nursing literature. Of the content present in the literature, there is a profound lack of evidence related to ADN faculty and dean/director burnout. This interactive session will provide a review of burnout specific to nurse faculty and academic leaders, examine strategies to identify and mitigate burnout, and promote a discussion of burnout specific to ADN faculty and academic leaders.
Learning Objectives:
Evaluate the current narrative for the nursing profession
Discuss contemporary challenges for ADN academic leaders and faculty
