NICU Assistant Nursing Director

Jamie Perkins is the Assistant Nursing Director at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston since March 2020. She is a graduate of the University of Lowell and has been a NICU RN at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since receiving her BSN in 2005. Jamie then graduated in 2020 from Simmons University with a Masters in Nursing Administration. While working in the NICU as a clinical nurse, Jamie was a Resource nurse. As a resource nurse, Jamie collaborated with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers along with managing the flow of the unit. Jamie is the co-lead of The Product Evaluation Committee. As part of this committee, Jamie collaborated with a team to trial new products within the unit that could improve patient care. In addition, Jamie was also a member of the Nursing Operations Advisory Council. As part of this council, Jamie participated in the development of the Perinatal Clinical Support Nurse role (PCSN). In order to create this role, Jamie collaborated with members from Labor and Delivery and Post-Partum units to develop this role. Jamie was elected to the Unit-Based Council and became a co-chair. The Magnet council is a council that allows nurses to become more involved in their clinical practice by participating in evidence-based projects. Jamie is the RN Project lead of the Family Integrated Care program (FICare). The FICare program places the parent in the center of the care team and places the nurse in the role of educator and mentor. Jamie collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and pilot this program in the Special Care Nursery.
