Jessica Thornton, MS, RDN, CSP, CNSC, CLC, LD has been a registered dietitian for over 25 years with extensive clinical experience within the Neonatal & Pediatric critical care areas.
Jessica’s Master of Science in Nutrition was earned at Indiana University- Purdue University, Indianapolis, and her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics at Marian University also in Indianapolis, IN. Her dietetic internship was through Edward Hines VA Hospital in Chicago, IL. Jessica’s pursuit to work in pediatrics brought her back to Indianapolis to complete an intensive 9-month nutrition fellowship with a focus on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit through Indiana University/Riley Hospital for Children. Jessica is a Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP), a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) and holds a certification as a lactation counselor.
As a research assistant, she studied human milk fortifier impact on premature infants. This led her to be the first RD in a Level IV NICU where she developed and opened the first human milk/formula mixing room. Jessica has also worked with complex care infants and children in the areas of oncology, stem cell transplant, short-bowel, and long-term nutritional support.
Her current position as Medical Science Liaison with Mead Johnson Nutrition at Reckitt drives her to ensure MJN products are used effectively by serving as a scientific resource within the medical and consumer arenas. She works with experts in the field of pediatric nutrition for continued scientific exchange.
As a life-longer learner, Jessica continues to build her knowledge and expertise in nutrition, public health, and research. Her love for education, development, and support for women as well as the field of nutrition has led her to be the current education chair of the Dietitians in Business and Communications DPG through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and communications champion for the Women of Reckitt, ERG.
