Lauren Orfe BSN, RNC-NIC, CBC is a clinical nurse and Quality Data Abstractor & Analyst in the Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In her clinical nurse role, Lauren is resposible for caring for up to three critically ill neonates. As the QI Data Abstractor & Analyst, Lauren is responsible for conducting chart reviews, chart audits, educating nursing staff on quality improvement work, analyzing and presenting data for unit quality metrics. During her time in the Intensive Care Nursery, Lauren has led and participated in numerous quality initiatives in the ICN including , CLABSI reduction through chart reviews, nursing driven bedside rounds, and standardizing the care of central lines in a central line care bundle. Lauren has also helped lead initiatives on reducing the time to antibiotics in late onset sepsis, standardizing the management of apnea and bradycardia, and improving the care of patients born with neonatal abstinence syndrome to align with best practices.. Her work has been recognized and presented at PAS and published in Pediatrics, American Journal of Nursing and Advances in Neonatal Nursing. Lauren is also an acitve member of shared governance including a member of the Nursing Quality Paitent Safety Core Council and the ICN Unit Council Chair. Lauren received her bachelor's degree in nursing at LaSalle University and is currently enrolled in the Master's of Nursing Program at Drexel University specializing in quality, patient safety, and risk management. Lauren is a certified neonatal intensive care nurse and certified breast feeding counselor.
