Marion M. Bendixen, PhD, MSN, RN, IBCLC: I am a Post-Doctoral Associate in the College of Nursing at the University of Florida (UF), an experienced registered nurse and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. My research focuses on understanding biological mechanisms of human milk production in mothers of critically ill infants to improve the nutritional support of their infants by maximizing consumption of mother’s own milk. My nursing career spans across multiple areas including emergency, cardiology, drug studies and neonatal intensive care. My lactation consultant career has focused on supporting lactation and the mother/baby dyad throughout their breastfeeding experience.
