Neonatal Dietitian
Pennsylvania Hospital
Disclosure: I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
My name is Kristi Spaide, MS, RD, CNSC, and I am the Neonatal Dietitian in Pennsylvania Hospital's CHOP level 3 NICU.
I have been a Registered Dietitian at Pennsylvania Hospital since 2008. I was an adult dietitian for 7 years, primarily managing the nutrition support of head and neck cancer and GI surgical patients. I then transitioned in the neonatal ICU have been working there for the past 6 years. I enjoy working closely with the interdisciplinary team, helping to provide exemplary care for our hospital’s sickest babies.
I attended Johnson Wales University where I received degrees in both Baking Pastry Arts as well as
Culinary Nutrition. After becoming a dietitian, I continued my education at Drexel University, completing my
Master’s in Food Science in 2013. I then decided to take the additional step to become a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician.
I am very passionate about my work as a dietitian. I am always looking for areas of improvement and aim
to be innovative and keep up on evidence based practice. My ultimate goal is to nourish neonates in order to optimize
their growth and developmental outcomes.
In my spare time, I am a wife and mother to three rambunctious boys, Ethan (age 5), Collin (age 4), and Ben (age 10 months). The babies in the ICN keep me busy at work and my babies at home keep me on my toes during my off hours and weekends!
