Aimee Vaughn, MSN, RNC-NIC, RNC-ELBW, RNC-NNIC, is a staff nurse and the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Coordinator at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. As a second-degree student, she received her first job as a new-graduate nurse in the NICU where she immediately found her passion. She became a travel nurse and gained experience across the country before settling in at MedStar Georgetown Hospital. Here, she became very active in unit-based committees and learning opportunities. She is a transport nurse, a charge nurse, a preceptor, and a ECMO Specialist. She has been the QI coordinator since 2017 and has really enjoyed the opportunity to make a positive impact and change in the care of the patients through various QI efforts. In 2020, she was one of NANN's Emerging Leader Fellows, where she gained the passion and knowledge for continuing her leadership growth.
