Short bowel syndrome in children often occurs right at or after birth, and neonatal nurses are amongst the first caregivers of these patients. They have an incredibly important role in advocating for the survival of these children, often in the face of significant pressure otherwise. This talk will equip the attendees with the knowledge to educate parents and advocate for the best outcomes for their children.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will be able to:
Explain when transplantation is selected and what the outcomes are
Identify treatment strategies in children with short bowel syndrome WITHOUT using transplant
Interpret the outcomes in survival and quality of life in all children with short bowel syndrome
