This session will explain the controversies of neonatal hypoglycemia screening, highlight the patients in whom screening can be lifesaving, and discuss the most severe form of hypoglycemia in the neonatal period congenital hyperinsulinism. In addition, attendees will learn about the latest techniques in genetic and imaging diagnosis of hyperinsulinism and understand the importance of transferring babies to multidisciplinary teams caring for neonates with hyperinsulinism.

Understand the goals of glucose screening in the newborn
Differentiate between acquired and genetic hyperinsulinism
Recognize who requires 18F DOPA PET scans
Compare long term outcomes between neonates with Focal and diffuse Hyperinsulinism
