Parent discharge preparedness is critical for improving outcomes in the NICU as well as post-hospitalization. Standardized tools, such as "My Flight Plan for Home," which engage parents, facilitate nurse-parent partnerships, and can be tailored to specific learning needs are essential. However, efforts to implement these tools are challenged by numerous factors. A comprehensive understanding of stakeholder perceptions regarding realized and perceived barriers to implementation can improve implementation of "My Flight Plan for Home" and other parent discharge preparation tools.
