(1039) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Emergency Evacuation Plan

After the Boston Marathon bombing when we were alerted to how important it is to have a robust evacuation plan for many institution's most vulnerable patients, we learned many NICUs do not have a dedicated evacuation plan. Tufts Children's Hospital was the first of the 6 NICU's in Boston to develop a comprehensive evacuation plan geared specifically for the NICU. Other institutions can benefit from the lessons we learned in creating our plan so that they are able to devise their own evacuation plans for readiness in the unfortunate case that evacuation becomes necessary.
