This research provides an understanding of NICU nurses' perceived genetics knowledge, level of comfort working with genetics information, and the specific genetics education that they desired. By identifying gaps in knowledge and comfort and determining what further education is desired, future work can be done to build on nurses' existing knowledge to help them work with this patient population with greater confidence and ease. This project provides a framework for how to best support NICU nurses in their work caring for patients with genetic disorders.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the areas of strengths and weaknesses in perceived genetics knowledge of NICU nurses.
