Research and Education Librarian for the Basic Sciences

Dr. Stacey Wahl is the Research and Education Librarian for the Basic Sciences at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Stacey brings her research experience as a developmental biologist, her passion for innovative and inclusive education, and her commitment to information literacy to support her patron area through pedagogical instruction, research support services, and program development. Stacey received her dual doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences and Rutgers University-Newark where she studied developmental neuroscience. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in biology at VCU, Stacey joined the
library in 2018. As the liaison to the basic sciences, Stacey has focused on assessing the unique needs of basic scientists and meeting them where they are to provide consultations and instruction in literature searching, assessing research impact, and preparing grant applications. In addition, she coordinates programming for VCU scientists, including a science communication series for postdoctoral fellows.
