Julie Gerlinger, RN, MSN, CMSRN spent twenty years wanting to be a nurse and was unable to achieve that goal. During that time, she knew what she wanted to do with her life. Every job was teaching her something she knew would eventually help her be a more well rounded nurse. Since becoming a nurse, she has become certified as a Medical Surgical nurse, practiced in acute Psychiatry including helping to open a the state's second Crisis Stabilization Unit and has worked in an ambulatory care setting as a Nurse Care Manager, caring for patients at high risk of admission to the hospital due to their chronic conditions. The Diabetes Guide was borne from a need to bring a complex algorithm of treatment to the bedside or in the patient room and permit real-time decisionmaking.
