Sallie Willcox, MLS, is the Patient Education Librarian at NYU Langone Health. After receiving her graduate degree from Long Island University, she helped launch consumer health information services at NYU Langone, initially in person at their Patient & Family Resource Center and later remotely. In addition to providing consumer health reference services directly to the patient community under the auspices of NYU Health Sciences Library, she works with the Department of Patient & Family Education where she provides health literacy services and assists with managing patient education content. She also serves on the institution’s Consents Committee, contributing a health literacy perspective on the creation of documents to support the informed consent process. She is interested in health equity and in finding ways to connect patients with meaningful information that supports their informed decision-making.
