Elizabeth Shirrell is a design educator and practitioner. Currently, she is the Program Director and an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design at Thomas Jefferson University. She teaches undergraduates and graduates in the areas of systems design, interaction design, user experience, graphic design, service design, illustration and typography. Elizabeth holds a MFA in Graphic and Interactive Design from Temple University and a BFA in Visual Communication Design from University of Dayton.
Beth maintains her own design practice, where she designs and strategizes for a diverse array of clients such as the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Citizen Science Lab, HOW, WIRED UK, The Latika Roy Memorial Foundation and The Asia Society. Beth’s work has been recognized regionally, nationally and internationally by Graphis, Creative Quarterly, AIGA PGH365, and AIGA World Studio. She has been featured in the publications such as Mastering Type: The Essential Guide to Typography for Print and Web Design, and Fingerprint No. 2.
