Priscilla Stephenson, MSLS, MSEd, AHIP, FMLA, is Chief, Library Service, James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and Clinics, Tampa, Florida. She is a former Chair of both the Federal Libraries Section and the Hospital Libraries Section. Stephenson is a past recipient of the Lois Ann Colaianni Award for Excellence and Achievement in Hospital Librarianship.
Stephenson has been a VA hospital library director since 2006. Prior to this she managed reference services at the University of Tennessee’s Health Sciences Library and served as a hospital library director in Illinois, Tennessee, and Nevada. She has been active in MLA Chapters, serving as Chair of the Southern Chapter and as Secretary of the Philadelphia Regional Chapter. She was the Philadelphia Chapter’s Liaison to the 2012 Quad Chapter Meeting. On the national level, Stephenson has been Chair of the Continuing Education Committee, Section Council liaison to the Credentialing Committee, a member of the JMLA Editorial Board, Chair of the Colaianni Award Jury, and a member of the MLA Ethics Task Force and the Vital Pathways Task Force. An author of several professional articles, she has co-edited the “WebHealth Topics” column in the Journal of Consumer Health on the Internet since 2003 and the “Hospital Information Services” column in Medical Reference Services Quarterly since 2012. She has also served as Lead Copyeditor of the online journal EBLIP: Evidence-Based Library and Information Practice from 2003-2011.
