The Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences is a young scholarly and professional society. We differ from ESA in having members from ecology and other natural sciences as well as from social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary ESS. Our goal as a Society is to bridge disciplines and create new connections. In our context, we see 4DEE useful in and of itself and useful as a model for developing a framework for interdisciplinary Environmental Studies curricula. A framework modelled on 4 DEE’s four dimensions, modified to reflect our broader ESS landscape, has potential to be a powerful curricular organizing tool.
