In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement, the San Francisco State University Biology department teamed instructors and graduate students together to revamp the entire lab curriculum. This led to the creation and implementation of BioSLAM (Biology Summer Lab Activity Modification). The goal of BioSLAM was to create lessons that can be taught either online or in person, and to promote equity and inclusion in the face of a pandemic and racial injustice in laboratory classrooms.
