To say my journey in science has been challenging is an understatement. Since high school to graduate studies, I have been underestimated by teachers, faculty, supervisors and peers for my appearance, personality and even mental health. Yet these perceptions by others have not stopped me from pursuing opportunities that have nurtured my development as a scientist. SEEDS provided the foundation for my scientific career and continues to help me grow 12 years later. From leading a chapter to mentoring students nationally, I am eternally grateful with SEEDS for believing in me even when others didn’t, even myself.
