Environmental Science and Management, Portland State University
I am a PhD candidate in the Environmental Science and Management Department at Portland State University. The underlying goal of my doctoral study was to provide new insight into nature-based solutions to improve urban sustainability and social resilience. Urban lakes and the related ecosystem services, defined as the benefits that people receive from natural environments, was the main focus of my research interest. I am particularly interested in modeling the repercussions that alternative land use policies and management decisions have on the ecosystem services provided by freshwater systems. I also performed a socio-economic analysis of the urban heat mitigation services provided by blue and green spaces to valuate the impact of urban heat island on minority and low-income communities under alternative urban development and climate change scenarios. I was born and raised in Turin Italy and I love being surrounded by a multicultural environment and learning about other people food traditions!
